<![CDATA[This past weekend was truly a weekend of many 'firsts'. It looks like I am one step closer to crunching on candy canes ( I mean carrot sticks) as my first tooth starts erupting out of my bottom gum with mind-blowing pain and discomfort. I also had the pleasure of having my very first taste of pureed pears which was like heaven in a bowl. Now I can proudly add two fruits to my quickly expanding culinary repertoire. A few other wonderful firsts that happened to me this weekend include meeting my Aunt Jennifer's friend Nicole (who I also now affectionately have dubbed an Aunt by association) for the first time and boy did we all have a gas this weekend (and I don't just mean the tooting kind). As many of you know, I adore the outdoors and despite the weather we walked and walked and walked. Oh, I saw my Mom with new brown, cropped hair for the first time too. (Lucky for me I know her voice, because she looks completely different and it cold have been quite confusing). Last, but certainly not least, I got to have my Aunt Kelly put me to sleep for the first time (which was most enjoyable) while the rents took cousin Kate out to celebrate her birthday. I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine. Here's a pic of me in my new blazer my Aunt picked up for me to help keep me looking like the 'stylin player we all know I am.]]>

<![CDATA[There is not much difference between the two holidays except for the origins. Canadian Thanksgiving is more closely connected to the traditions of Europe than of the United States. Long before Europeans settled in North America, festivals of thanks and celebrations of harvest took place in Europe in the month of October. The very first Thanksgiving celebration in North America took place in Canada when Martin Frobisher, an explorer from England, arrived in Newfoundland in 1578. He wanted to give thanks for his safe arrival to the New World. That means the first Thanksgiving in Canada was celebrated 43 years before the pilgrims landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts!

My Grandma and Granddad's house is in beautiful Prince Edward County (no, not where the mussels come from -- learn your Canadian geography please) and has been in his family for many generations. It is right on Lake Ontario and the crashing sound of the waves are really relaxing and really beautiful (my cousin Kate and Uncle Duncan even went IN THE WATER). I had a great time enjoying the crisp, clean air, listening to the waves and meeting new family (high five to Sally Jo and Jeff).

The trip is a long, eight hour drive, but well worth it. Here's a snapshot of me in front of the Glenora Ferry at the Bay of Quinte. I can't wait to go back. Canada's cool, eh?

<![CDATA[On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch he deems the most "sincere". He then flies through the air to deliver toys to all the good little children in the world (c’est moi). Apparently, according to legend/Charles M. Schulz one can cause the Great Pumpkin to pass him or her by merely saying "IF he comes", as opposed to "WHEN he comes" which is why I have already started practicing my vigil guarding these two beautiful orange squash orbs.

By the way, did anyone know the largest pumpkin ever grown weighed in at 1,140 pounds? It would take 96 of me to make that equivalent. That’s a lot of pumpkin.]]>

<![CDATA[Like everyone else in our house, I take my food quite seriously. Since my last post, I have hit another major milestone and had my first taste of rice cereal. It proved a bit difficult at first, but after I got the hang of swallowing I found it most enjoyable and now relish mealtime. Ahh, the faint smell of the warm porridge, mixed ever so slightly with some delicious breastmilk into a perfect velvety consistency that swirls in my mouth ever so whimsically … it’s a good time.

However, also like everyone else in my family, I am a big critic and have quickly learned the value of correct proportions in recipes. I want nothing to do with something prepared incorrectly. Too much milk, and the cereal is just a runny, unappealing mess. Too little milk and its just this pasty, gelatinous-like inedible muck. Either way, I don’t want it even near me if it’s less than perfectly blended.

Oh, and don’t think my little palate can’t differentiate when mere ‘formula’ is mixed in. I tolerate it, but barely.

Overall, I give the rice cereal experience three out of four bottles – but my generosity is only because other than breastmilk, formula, mylecon and maybe a tiny lick or two of Mustela or Kiehls soap at bathtime, its about the only thing I tasted so far, so cut me some slack will ya?

Until my next review – Au revoir (that’s French for later alligator)

<![CDATA[I'm baaaaack!! Sorry about being a slacker with the posts, but I've been one busy little guy and this last month was just crazy.

First off, I am one month older which makes me a whopping four months old. I am discovering many new things like my feet, my hands and that my smiles make others smile. I have also learned to roll over which is really fun, but have yet to learn that these tricks will one day get me treats.

I was lucky enough to have my Aunt Jennifer visit for not just one, but two weekends in a row. We had lots of laughs together, and she was a big help to my Mom and Dad who have been working really hard on things. My Grandma and Grandpa also came all the way from Florida for a visit which I greatly enjoyed. My Grandma took me for long walks in the park (one of my absolute favorite things to do) and we had a ball making funny faces to each other. During their stay, we went to my other Grandma and Granddad's house in Radnor and all four Grandparents, my parents, Uncle Duncan, Aunt Kelly and my three super-cool cousins enjoyed a barbecue (mixed grill -- which is the only way to have a barbecue, or so I have heard)

Everyone was visiting because we have officially moved from the Riverloft to a beautiful 3-story townhouse which is nearly completely renovated and they wanted to help my Mom and Dad (in addition to visiting with me).

Needless to say, these past few weeks have been jam-packed with visits, packing, moving and learning new things. I'm tired just writing about it! The work has been well worth it because I love my new house and hope everyone will come and visit me in it to help make the great memories!]]>

My first stop on the travel list will most likely be Canada known as The Mother Land to my Dad. It’s where my Dad and his entire family were born. I look forward to my first trip to a land where the maple syrup flows freely, hockey and la crosse reign supreme and the people are a lot more warm than the climate usually is (just don’t try to order and iced coffee at the Wellington Grill warns my Mom).

In addition to my passport allowing me the ability to travel anywhere in the world, it is the first of many steps towards making me a dual citizen so I can legally dodge a draft and flee to Canada if I ever have to because in our house we believe war is good for ‘absolutley nothin’ (I can say it again, y’all).

See everyone in my travels – your friendly American Canadian, McLean!!!!!]]>

<![CDATA[This past weekend I spent some quality time with Anya, who I predict will be one of my best friends ever because her Mom and my Mom and her Dad and my Dad are really tight. She's the coolest (for a girl and all) and we had some totally good times kickin back and celebrating our first Fourth of July together. She shared her Lamaze activity bird and bottle warmer with me, while I shared my activity mat with her (I think I scored major points with the blinking musical bug which I thought she would like because its tre chic). I even let her borrow a pair of my socks for the ride home because my Dad already taught me if I leave something behind or lend something I need back, that secures another date. Although the weather wasn't so great, the six of us made do and laughed, napped, cooked and talked, talked, talked. Both Anya and I wonder what grown-ups talk about because its all they ever seem to do. If we had the power to heat up our own bottles, or do something as cool as turn the lights on and off, we would mesmerized and eating all day long and forget about the blah, blah blah. Silly grown ups.]]>

Exactly two months ago today, I decided I wanted to meet everyone face to face so I gave my Mom the signal and forced my way into life through -- well, we won't go into ALL the details of my birthday -- but you get the idea. The important part is, I am getting bigger and more animated by the day and love being around people. I'm so happy and content to be celebrating my two months chillaxin at the beach this weekend and look forward to the next sixty days of fun in the summertime sun. My parents have become big fans over the years of the self-portrait on all of their many travels together. They have a whole collection from Venice, Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Quebec -- all the places they loved to go together. As part of todays' celebration, I got in on their action and we took of our first of many family self-portraits.
