What's "up" everyone? I AM, that's what! After many, many failed attempts and months of being hauled around in my sweet ride and in everyone's arms, I have finally gotten the motivation to show everyone how I can motor (hey, you cant blame me for being lazy). Now I can hang out on two legs and run around the park instead of crawling around like a crab. My rents are wicked proud and they give me snaps all day. They're thinking of getting a head cam for me to make a documentary on how a baby sees everything (someone please tell them what a bad idea this is ... Youtube is filled with enough stupidity). Well, gotta run. LITERALLY.

It’s true. I’m half Canadian and half American. Making me a ‘Canarican’ or an ‘Amadian’. I’m also exercising my voice daily (and loudly) for independence.

My Mom tried to find me some Roots threads or something with a big ‘honkin red maple leaf on it for me to sport on Fête du Canada (July 1st - Canada Day), but to no avail so I think we just listened to ‘O Canada, ate some cottage cheese (close enough to a cheese curd I say) and called it a day.

However, American Independence Day, July 4th, was something really spectacular for me. I got my first glimpse of fireworks evoking my future inner pyro, and while I didn’t get to sample hot dogs or ice cream, I was able to model this fabulous tie-died shirt symbolic of the American flag.

I think it not only shows how patriotic I can be (snaps to Obama who both my Dad and my Momma are for) but it makes me look crazy, sexy, cool.

Anyone care to comment on this?

My PR peeps are calling Lettermen, getting AP on the horn and drafting the memo for distribution to the throngs of paparazzi because I finally joined the ranks of Top Ten One Year Olds of 2009 -- minus Blake cuz he’s still, well … a ‘baby’

This year has been one crazy ride for us (by us I mean my family of three consisting of my Dad, my Mom and moí). Once a mere scrawny six pounds 11 ounces, I have nearly tripled in weight (thanks for the good eats, Mom). I used to fit and snooze perfectly on the chests of friends and family. Now I can’t really comfortably sleep on people because stretched out, I’m almost the entire length of an adult from shoulder to knee (sorry, Dad) … and today, for a special birthday treat, I actually pulled myself up for the first time!

I am told so many people came to the hospital to see me and give me a proper welcome 365 days ago. Uncle Duncle, Aunt Kell and cousins Sam, Meg and Kate, Aunt Jennifer, Glam-ma and Granddad, Nonna Franny and Nonno Billy were part of the very first welcoming committee. Grandma Florida and Grandpa Charlie jetted (literally) to PA when they heard the news of my surprise early arrival.

I moved from a loft apartment into a lovely, almost completely renovated, home with a kickin kitchen (snaps to Grandma and Granddad). I traveled, traveled, and traveled some more. I was an intrepid wanderlust at one month 25 days when I took my first Amtrak train to the ‘burg’. Not, however, to be outdone by obtaining a passport at four months to see O’Canada for Thanksgiving Canadienne and an airplane ride all the way to sunny Florida to Grandpa Charlie, Grandma Florida, Aunt Laraine and Uncle Ray for Christmas.

I foresee many more trips in my future because I am constantly hearing from my Mom and Dad how important it is to be well traveled, well read and well rounded if one truly wants to be a 21st century renaissance man (and I do).
I already love fine music (moonlight sonata as sung by the muppets), food (perfectly diced roasted sweet potato with just an ever so slight hint of maple syrup – nod to the Mother Land) and books (Pajama Time and Let’s Be Thankful … cuz I am).

As I get bigger, the waterworks are already starting with my Mom (she leaks a lot) and my Dad is starting to get nervous about the whole lack of sports in our house thing. But (I know, grammar) to paraphrase my Uncle by Association, Lloyd (who will teach me sports my Dad doesn’t care to know about) ‘It’s All Good’.
I have decided I’m going to live my life exactly how my Mom and my Aunt by Association, Lorraine, run their business in that ‘Something is better than Nothing’ (so don’t worry about the sport thing, Dad) and in the years to come ‘We’ll See What Happens’ (because good things will, so stop with the leaky eyes thing, Mom)

I love you all and will continue to love you more with every day, week, month, and year(s) of my life. Thanks for making my first one so special. Peace, Love and Cheerios.

XOXO,

McLean Howard Now-Officially-One-Year-Old-Hudson

Ok, so clearly the tub is NOT the best venue for my lady moves. I'm splashin, laughin, hangin out (literally), sharin my tub space. Then, all of a sudden, all H_ _ _ breaks loose and my once serene, happy place is turned completely into Beazelbub's lair by Anya who is clearly crazy opinionated about her splish-splash time.

My Mom says its because her Mom hates bathing and not to take it so personally, but I dunno it sounds a bit lame to me (you know like those times your Mom told you it was just an honor to be nominated or maybe they were just intimidated by your good looks and charm). Olivia also pretty much hated sharing the foray into soapy waters as well, so I'm thinking COULD IT BE ME? Then I was like, no way dude. Has to be them. Anya seemed pretty p-o'd by the whole situation and a pic is really worth a thousand words.

Besides totally freaking me out, she's pretty cool to hang with though. We had some good times sharing sippy cups, rolling around on the floor and she's totally into sharing (except the bathtub and her hair which I got a kick out of pulling).

All in all, in my book, Miss Anya puts the suds in my soap. However, I really have to say my tub time from here on in will be my own personal ritual enjoyed by none other than me, myself and I (and my Mom and Dad and my Grandparents who like to look in sometimes). The only chicks in my tub from now on are going to be the rubber kind that shoot water out of their mouth (well, technically those are ducks but they kind of look like chicks so give me a break okay).

This weekend was just beyond words for me. That, of course, is not saying much because my current vocabulary is extremely limited at best and basically non-existent at worst. Anyway, I digress, and let's just say it was one of the best weekends EVER.

I met an older woman (much older than even Anya) who gave me a first taste of what a crush will be really like. Since we met, all I can think about is Olivia. Ahhh, sweet Olivia. So well-read (she introduced me to a new book, Baby Beluga), so quick on her feet (Mom and Dad even had to bust out the baby gates), such a refined palate (I never even knew mango existed until she showed me), so worldly (all the way from NYC).

Her Mom and Dad were on an overnight visit and we had so much fun, and so did they from what I hear. We went to the park together, dined together, played together and shared toys (I think I scared her a bit because I tend to be loud and opinionated at times and it could be misconstrued as coming on too strong), bathed together (yes, I said bathed - again I think I scared her a bit). The very best part was when our date was over, I had my very first kiss with someone other than a relative. Boy, was it magical. An unforgettable evening and one I keep thinking of. I cannot wait to visit New York. We can visit her Dad's restaurant and split a bit of guacamole (lady and the tramp-style), go to Central Park and ride on something called a 'Carousel' which I am told is very fun and she can introduce me to her posse. Why, I even have some additional little friends in NYC I can introduce her to (shout out to Millia and Lila).

Olivia is just too much, and I am happy to have her as a friend. We will learn many, many more things from each other. Until we meet again, mon cherie.

Biting my Mom's fingers, neck, shoulder or anything on her that gets in my way with all of my six teeth

Grunting adamantly at my right hand

Holding lengthy, thought provoking, conversations with stuffed animals, my socks and hats (which I pull off every chance I get), bath water and anything in a tube

Scooting around and around in circles using my gluteus maximus muscles

Turning pages in books

Eating chunky food and even a bit of chicken

Banging my sippy cup on the floor instead of using it like I should (hey, it's a step)

Placing balls into the respective holes on both my elephant toy and my walker

Swaying back and forth/rockin out to anything I deem as music (this includes my Mozart cube, songs my Mom sings to me, the clanging of pots, even the sound the coffee machine makes)

Kicking distasteful things with my feet and swatting them with my hands to get them away when I am not in the mood (such as diapers, wipes, my clothes, my bottle, my food, certain toys, sometimes even my Mom and Dad)

Eating crackers all by myself - no help needed (well a little to open the package, but I can take it from there)

Splashing around in the tub without my baby seat

In celebration of the fact that I am nine months old today, here are some interesting numerology facts about the number nine I gathered from the source of all knowledge the Internet. I’m also quite happy to report that while I enjoyed my nine months on the inside, my nine months on the outside has by far surpassed my expectations (I initially had my doubts).

Did you know:

* Nine is considered the number of the harmony and represents the inspiration and perfection of ideas (present company not excluded as one of those aforementioned ideas)
* Freemasons have made it the eternal number of human immortality
* The number is considered as sacred in Egypt and Greece
* The Aztecs consider it a symbol for nocturnal and terrestrial things
* According to some really smart Greek dude named Parmenide, it concerns the absolute things and is the symbol of the totality of human beings.

Well, my social schedule is quite full in the coming weeks, so until my next post sayonara my sweet friends!

I have been one busy little elf these past few weeks. Between keeping up with my social engagements, public appearances, last-minute Christmas shopping and travel itinerary, I barely had a minute to myself. One of my resolutions for 2009 is to kick back and relax a bit more. Notice how I started practicing by chilling in my Christmas duds (thanks for the sweater Grandma FL). My other resolution? Be a bit more timely between posts on my blog. Feel free to share your resolutions with me!

See ya next year!!! Peace, love, happiness and health for the year to come.

This past weekend was truly a weekend of many 'firsts'. It looks like I am one step closer to crunching on candy canes ( I mean carrot sticks) as my first tooth starts erupting out of my bottom gum with mind-blowing pain and discomfort. I also had the pleasure of having my very first taste of pureed pears which was like heaven in a bowl. Now I can proudly add two fruits to my quickly expanding culinary repertoire. A few other wonderful firsts that happened to me this weekend include meeting my Aunt Jennifer's friend Nicole (who I also now affectionately have dubbed an Aunt by association) for the first time and boy did we all have a gas this weekend (and I don't just mean the tooting kind). As many of you know, I adore the outdoors and despite the weather we walked and walked and walked. Oh, I saw my Mom with new brown, cropped hair for the first time too. (Lucky for me I know her voice, because she looks completely different and it cold have been quite confusing). Last, but certainly not least, I got to have my Aunt Kelly put me to sleep for the first time (which was most enjoyable) while the rents took cousin Kate out to celebrate her birthday. I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine. Here's a pic of me in my new blazer my Aunt picked up for me to help keep me looking like the 'stylin player we all know I am.

Mom and Dad weren't quite ready for the show,
I just wanted to let everybody know,
When you gotta go, you gotta go,
I play by my own rules, I'm a big boy now, yo ...
